What role does hope play in people’s lives?
Hope gives energy to keep running to reach goals. It plays an important role in people’s lives.
What happens when people loose hope?
If people loose hope they don’t look forward in life. They become nervous; their self esteem becomes very low and may commit suicide.
How do college students with high hopes differ from those with low hopes?
Students with high hope create high expectations for them and look for opportunities. They work hard to meet those expectations.
“Having Hope”?
Dr. Snyder said “Having hope means you have both the will and the way to accomplish your goals, what ever they maybe.
“Hope and Will” study?
Twenty percent said they have ability to find ways to reach their goals but have little will to do so. Other twenty percent said they have energy to reach goals but not enough confidence. And the rest said they have neither.
Characteristics of people with high hope?
People with high hope share several qualities including asking for advice, self motivation, look for alternative ways to reach their goals and flexibility.
Program for children?
Dr. Snyder’s team is working on a program for children which will help them develop the ways of thinking found in hopeful people. They video taped interviews of people with high hope and showing those tapes to children in universities and schools.
